Addt’l Barrel Length/Inch (26″+)
Long barrels are the rage with many hunters and competition shooters. For hunting applications, a barrel longer than 26 inches is not really necessary. With powders that are available today, shooters will get plenty of performance from a 26 inch barrel. Target rifles, however, can benefit from a longer barrel. This is mainly due to sight radius when iron sights are used and/or the shooter is attempting to maximize the bullets velocity from a given powder charge.Adding inches to a barrel is expensive, and one needs to consider the cost/benefit ratio. Call and discuss options, questions, or concerns with Darrell if you are considering increasing your barrel length beyond 26 inches.
